The Ready for Yoga Program is an occupational therapy designed movement-based program that aligns with the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF), supporting its core principles of Belonging, Being, and Becoming. Through mindful movement, breathing, and body awareness activities, this program supports children to develop the foundational skills they need to engage in learning.
Belonging
The Ready for Yoga program fosters a sense of belonging through group participation and shared experiences. When children move together, breathe together, and practise together, they build a sense of community and connection that supports their emotional safety.
Being
Through mindfulness and body awareness activities, children are supported to be present in the moment. They learn to notice their bodies, their breath, and their feelings—building interoceptive awareness that supports self-regulation and wellbeing.
Becoming
The program supports children’s development across all domains—physical, social, emotional, and cognitive—helping them build the skills and confidence they need to grow and flourish in their learning environments.
Learning Outcomes
Ready for Yoga directly supports EYLF learning outcomes including children having a strong sense of identity, connecting with and contributing to their world, having a strong sense of wellbeing, and being confident and involved learners.
